Ashirvad Centre for Social Concern hosted a leadership seminar under the theme of Ignatian / Jesuit Leadership for the staff members of St. Joseph’s Institutions located in the vicinity of Residence Road. The seminar brought together around 40 teachers, lecturers, and professors committed to the mission of Jesuit education.
The resource person for the day was Rev. Fr. Joseph Lobo SJ, who engaged the participants in a reflective and inspiring session on what it means to be a leader in a Jesuit institution. He emphasized the essence of Ignatian leadership—a call to strive always for the Magis, to seek the greater good, and to give one’s best in the service of students and society.
Fr. Joseph Lobo urged the educators to form not just men for others, but men with others – leaders who are deeply rooted in solidarity and compassion. He encouraged them to approach their responsibilities with dedication, acting as if everything depends on them, while entrusting the outcomes to God as if everything depends on Him, echoing the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
In a world where conformity often overshadows conviction, Fr. Joseph Lobo challenged the participants to become leaders who do not follow the crowd, but rather stand apart—leaders grounded in truth and justice, and committed to siding with the marginalized and the weak, just as Jesus did, and as St. Ignatius himself followed.
The event was inaugurated by Fr. Arun Luis SJ, the Superior and Director of Ashirvad, who warmly welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude for their presence. He hosted the educators with heartfelt hospitality and a delicious lunch, making the gathering not only enriching but also memorable.
The seminar left everyone deeply inspired, instilling in them renewed leadership qualities rooted in Ignatian spirituality. It was a day filled with reflection, motivation, and a shared commitment to lead not for personal glory, but for the greater glory of God.
