Rising Together: A Day of Strength, Solidarity, and Sisterhood

16th March 2025

On 16th March 2025, Loyola Hall at Ashirvad came alive with the spirit of International Women’s Day, organized in collaboration with Ashirvad and CARE. The event brought together around 90 women from diverse backgrounds, offering a vibrant platform for empowerment and dialogue. The highlight of the day was a captivating mono-act by the chief guest, Mrs. Du. Saraswathi, who skilfully portrayed the ongoing struggles faced by women. Her performance, rich with symbolism from nature, urged the participants to rise against inequality and embrace their power.

Rev. Fr. Arun Luis SJ, Director of Ashirvad, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message, encouraging women to pursue financial independence through small savings groups and reaffirming Ashirvad’s commitment to their growth. Mr. Manohar, Director of CARE, engaged the women in group games and practical discussions on rights, benefits, and entrepreneurship, creating a space for learning, sharing, and teamwork.

After a hearty lunch, participants actively took part in interactive sessions that deepened their understanding of social and economic rights. The women left the event not only with practical tools and renewed confidence but also with a steel container as a token of appreciation. The celebration concluded with tea, snacks, and a group photo, marking a memorable day of unity, strength, and progress for every woman present – empowering their voices and inspiring change.
